I've done it again. Not an expert but starting a thread again. I'm not sure I have 11a correct, nor 16d. I think my COD is 1a, it made me smile. Usuals - rhyming pair, primarily, hidden, no Spoonerism though. Enjoyable and got through comfortably although SE corner was tricky for me.

I think 11a is a homonym and the appeal in 16d is sex appeal if that's any help. I don't understand quite how 22 parses to a four-letter word though there's only one answer I can think of.

13d - lashing done with ropes minus start of kiss - it's a movie (first word)

12a is a double definition (both informal terms). ‘Lift’ is in the sense of steal.
13d is a film. The wordplay involves removal of a first letter from a word for ‘lashing’.

12a - TBH I'm not sure, I have a solution but it's not a phrase that I am familiar with. I'll hope others can explain.

Slightly related, but isn’t it curious that the dictionary definition of “downland” is “an upland”.

Couldn't get 11a and having looked it up, don't see how the word with H in front means venerate .
I can only assume the first letter of 22a comes from an auto gearbox.
