Rocky, 6 actually wasn't that difficult for me. Anagrist and anagrind clearly indicated, and there's an obvious guess for the first name. Did require Google to confirm, though.

Not sure I'd do so well with ball players outside of Ruth or DiMaggio.

Anyhow, all finished. I enjoyed this but as with others perhaps too many of the same type of clues. But thanks to Brockwell for another brilliantly themed and compiled puzzle.

Hi Everyone

Late as usual start and making steady progress, but ground to a halt now. I've got 17ac, but not sure of the theme, apart from horse racing, which I know nothing about. My FOI was 13ac closely followed by 21,19. I used to love Baroness Orkzy, but I can't parse it and have no idea what it has to do with the theme.

Please help me make progress by giving me some hints for 4d, 27ac and 22ac. and telling me if my letters are right.
