I believe it's a mathematical puzzle this week, so the usual intro doesn't really apply.

Forum members are happy to help with the clues and happy to help with a gentle nudge towards the theme. Nothing too specific/too revealing should be given away, as this could spoil things for other solvers. Any queries or replies which - even inadvertently - reveal too much of the theme are likely to be removed.

NB Mathematical Forum members should feel free to comment on any posts, aspects of posts, that may be pertinent, need clarified etc.

I assume that B,C,E and F are positive? It doesn’t actually state this.
After half an hour of staring, I have no idea how to start. Can we solve the clues without bothering with the G,H business?

I think digit implies they are positive, plus the BCEF value wouldn't make sense.

I've done 25 mins and think I have 2 of the 9 code letters figured out, although I could be wrong. Looks like it could be a real challenge....

Yikes. I am utterly stymied by the preamble--hope this doesn't become my first non-submission in over a year...
