This is getting ridiculous. Starting thread again. Back from Delhi but still on IST so wide awake. Cracked this in an hour. Not sure they are all correct so may have a couple of errors. Usuals. Primarily, hidden, lots of anagrams, a little GK, no spoonerism. CoD 6a for me. Am I getting better or are they becoming a little easier, or is it just experience and familiarity.

Quite straightforward today, hardly any head scratchers.

I think you must be getting better yevrah, or I'm getting worse, because I really struggled this week. Never heard of 13D, or the homophone of 15A, needed this website's fill in the blanks for 20A (by then I just wanted to get it over with!), wonder about the first definition in 1A, and couldn't work out 4D for an eternity. Other than that ...

Ah. But I'm not sure about a couple of mine which you have identified as questionable such as 1a. And I did use a couple of helping tools fir 13d.

For 1a, think of the first two words of the clue separately, then I think it works

I’m stuck on 13d and 20a. Hints appreciated

Thanks Jono. I actually spotted that just before your post. Still think it could have been better though. How about punched in? And I'm still racking my brain for any occasion when I've seen or heard 13D before today!

Nicoladawn 13d parses as 2,8 but the answer, a plural, seems to be a very specific type of the definition! Can't see the parsing of 20a myself I'm afraid.

13d parses 2,7,1. Definition is a not a very common word for ‘tricks’
20a is definition by example (carrying a big stick) followed by a somewhat whimsical cryptic definition referring to the weather, I think (unless someone has something better!?)
