Good fun I thought. I didn’t count them but it felt like rather a lot of anagrams for one puzzle, though I enjoyed the single word fodder examples.

Still thinking about the order of the parts in 5d and the parsing of 26a. Another coffee required.

Agree 24a is terrific (tho I needed all the crossers before the penny dropped)!
Jono, tufts isn't the greatest definition in 26a. You'll probably see the parsing if you think of a (lovely) word for clusters instead.

And I also can’t parse 20 or the first word of 26.

Hi Barry,
20 parses as 3,3 inside 6 (state that’s stunned)
26 first part is a word for “tree tufts” minus its first letter
24 is a play on “characters”. Not ones in Shakespeare
