Captaincoma. If there is then it's something I've missed! I just wanted to introduce to solvers some different sets of numbers that they may not have seen or heard of before. I was just adding a bit of variety to the usual fare and they turned out to fit the bill nicely.

This puzzle certainly deserves recognition, though many of us on this forum will not be able to vote for it as we don’t submit.

Dylan, I hope you found your mistake and have been able to carry on with the puzzle. I found mine, and I’m ashamed to admit that I had overlooked the fact that if 3ac has two possible solutions then 3dn will have four! I don’t think I am giving anything away in saying this.

I spent 30mins or so on google and wiki trying to fathom out lucky and happy numbers - then of course I saw the useful lists at the bottom of the clues. At least they confirmed what my frazzled brain had come up with.

I will add a belated “thank you” to Oyler. This was a really enjoyable numerical with a clear logical path through and always *just* enough information to keep moving forward. No heavy calculation required, which is something that I dread in numericals, and a lovely twist at the end giving an unambiguous solution. I am in awe of the construction.

A puzzle of surpassing awesomeness: thanks Oyler. I was wary of it at first, because more than one legitimate solution means that it won’t be possible to complete it by deduction alone, and I don’t like having to guess. But as I worked through it, I could pin enough of it down to make some progress, and as it came gradually to a halt there was enough of the message emerging to see what was happening. It helped that I was listing the possible answers for the clues that could be narrowed down, and gradually eliminating the possibilities, and couldn’t help noticing something striking about the values that were left in many cases… and then the penny dropped :-) Very neatly done.

Thanks Oyler - beautiful construction.
And we won 2 out of 3 of the bowls matches!
Mappa Mundi was well worth the trip alone.
Hope you get your bowls trophy repaired.

Thanks simplesimon and well done on the bowls front too. Sadly my bowls trophy was beyond repair which was a shame as the St Andrews Uni chemistry department glassblower had done a great job. The skills they have are amazing and should be paid a lot more!

Finally thanks to all for the kind comments. They are much appreciated. Look out for the blog at LWO in three weeks.
