Well, as per my comment @2, I loved this one. I thought the way he'd woven the song titles into the clues was very very clever with a few traps and misdirections along the way. Raced fairly quickly through the first half but then really struggled in the SE. I don't submit so I've no concerns about the instruction, although it did make me smile. Can't see the wordplay for 5a or 32d but I'll chew them over for a while. I saw your man live 22 times between 1978 and 2013. I know my good friend (who first got me into The Listener about 6 years ago and who will be starting this puzzle right about now) has seen him dozens of times since 1965. Great puzzle! Time to give him a spin.
Thanks to Twin for a fun puzzle. I’ll pass on the instructions, though! Not at all my cup of meat at least until Quinn gets here…. As to reminisces, like the man said, I have none because I was there. 😉
I also really enjoyed the cleverness of the clues. Particularly liked the misdirection of 22, the combo of 7/15, and of course 36. My thanks to Twin as well.
Hi dylan,
Also not sure what precisely we're meant to do.
32d I have American 3-letter word for'allowing' less o (minus zero) then phonetic for n (no limit) .
36ac is famous mathematician with 3-letter word for sorrow back around the usual 2-letter abb. for US railroad
