I know how you feel, I spent an absolute age on the four letter 15a - I just couldn't see it!

Hi everyone

Started at about 2.30pm, got none. I realised my brain was stuck on everything else I need to do today, so went and did that. Just read through the very long thread and got a ccouple more. Fortunately, my husband is very musical and knew the Brazilian maestro.

I shall sit down more relaxed and hope to zip through the rest (but I don't like Picaroon - I didn't find a single anagram on my first read through; I know they are there!)

I'll be abck for hints later and must read through the thread again more slowly.

I found this puzzle difficult in tge sense that I had to work hard at it, but not difficult in the sense that I didn't get stuck, but managed to finish it without help from this forum, or anyobe else. I enjoyed it. FOI 9a, which was probably the only one for which the answer was obvious as soon as I read the clue. LOI 23d. COD a close thing between 10d and 13d. I think I'll settle for 13.

Oh dear, why can't I learn to proofread before saving a post? In case it isn't obvious, tge=the & anyobe=anyone.

I thought I had proof read, but now see I missed one typo.

I made quite good progress after my last post once I sat down and concentrated, but I've a few to do in the southwest corner. A few hints might get me over the finish line. 13d I've got ?I?H?O?Y?R and can make no sense of the clue
21ac I just got this as I was about to post, but this leaves me with a problem for
17d, I can only think of one word that fits the letters I've got - so are they right? ?T?H?E?S
27ac I've got ?S???O?? and I've no idea on this one.

I've got my glass of wine now, so I expect a brainstorm soon.

Hi, roof. Your Y is wrong in 13 and the E is wrong in 17, so you need to revisit 24.

I thought 27 was one of the most difficult. Two letters inside a word for duck as a verb.

Hi Roof
Sorry, you've got some wrong letters.
13d the Y is wrong
17d the E is wrong
27 is a word most recognisable in French

Hi Roof,

13d - Anagram - Your Y is wrong.

17d - Your E is wrong. 8 letter "winsome" minus F(emale) then it ends in S(outh)- definition is "impressions"

27a - 6 letter "duck" (as in 'evade' or 'get out of') goes around/"is stuffed by" L(eft) O(ver) - definition is "meat"
