I took the last letter in 9a to be the abbreviation of the former German currency. While 6a is given as a single word in Chambers the definition doesn’t quite work for me. In 28d “fusty” is just old fashioned, but I agree with Chris there are some superfluous words here and there :-)

35 mins today, still thought it was harder than usual for an Everyman.

I can't parse 12D.

I usually say 6A as a 4 rather than the acronym :p

Just looking in

Chris. I took the first two oletters in 21d as a brief way of saying " I appreciate"

PS, you need to read 12d from the bottom up…

Yeah worked it out in the end, the famous Jacobi (with apostrophe S as well) ;)

Cheers.

21d first two letters are “I appreciate that”. Confusing because if you apply the ‘odd selection‘ to “that Lucy” rather than just “Lucy” you get the same result!

I just did the oddly thing, as you said works both ways.

Yes, I just used "that Lucy". The compiler probably hadn't seen that.

I was also confused by the inclusion of 'I appreciate' in 21d until I came on here. As Chrise said, it was unnecessary.

Anyway, I did enjoy today's - thought there were lots of excellent clues, including the aforementioned 14, plus 16, 24, and 7d (didn't initially 'get' that one!) Clever misdirection in 3d - took a while to realise it was an anagram.

Don't think anyone else has mentioned the rhyming pair of 12 and 20 across? I also noticed an unusual number of plurals - I counted eight.

Thanks to Everyman. Found this pretty easy, breezed through without thinking of subtleties.

FOI 1a, LOI 13.
COD 16, followed closely by 12 and 14.

In addition to the rhyming pair, 1a and 26 look like an "eye rhyme", but I don't count them as a duplicate r. p.
