Enjoyed this one, not too tricky. There might be a couple of definitions one could quibble over. Fell for 14d, which is rather good. Also liked 15a and 24a.
Cheers all.

Agree about 14D and 24A - lovely clues. 12D took some unpicking (and a lot of cosssers!). And there was a major pdm when I realised one of the answers was simply an anagram! Entertaining stuff, all in all.

Yes, objectively easy today, I.e. solved relatively quickly and without aid. Liked 14d, which had me puzzling. Less fond of 6a and 7d my last two in.
Thanks to Everyman

Arib, I have to disagree about 7d: I loved the light bulb moment when that one clicked for me!

I'm on a roll with Everyman at the moment -but sadly not translated when i try the harder weekday crosswords where I often fail to get more than 1/3 .
6a was last one in -is it really a four letter word or could it be enumerated differently?

sorry to disagree - there were several i didn't like here.
6a isn't pronounced as (4)
i don't like the definition or the last letter in 9a
11a "spiny" isn't needed - is it just there to make the clue easier?
i don't see how 19a works
"dated language in brief" is a bit extreme (or not extreme enough!) in 2d
"sign of disuse" is loose in 12d
in contrast to others, i didn't like 14d
18d why "fusty"?
21d what's "I appreciate" doing?

I did like 16a.

Chrise, doesn’t 19a sound like an adverb ending in ly if said quickly?

thanks cymro - so the clue depends on sloppy speaking? and why "seen"?

Took me a while to get 7d, but now I have it I can appreciate Fitzover's amusing post . It was my penultimate, with 6a loi shortly after

14d is my cod

Don't like19a, even after saying the answer aloud several times , but overall I enjoyed it today
