Thanks Malone, that’s useful, I’m sure you are right! Can’t see the Macbeth connection, or the extra letter, can you?

Lumen, I have the 'a' (in 'pain's' ) as the extra, but I am sometimes wrong! I think the endless is from Pree(n)., then M, master and PT, part.

Thanks, Lumen, I often don't bother with the parsing, details of misprints or missing letters and so on, when I stick in my entries - it's only when I come on the Forum that I realise I might have to explain my answers!

I've been out of the country for two weeks, and so wasn't able to get hold of Saturday's i. This thread makes it look an interesting solve, so would some kind person be willing to scan it, or give me a link. Best to email me at jock999 at btinternet dot com. (This is a new address.)

Can someone put me out of my misery re 14a? "Dyes around six black metal discs for stamps (7)"
I have the c in 'black' as a misprint for n, but the only words that I can fit into the spaces are a chemical and a disease in horses.
Thanks.

Thanks, Malone. I was being decidedly thick there.

Cockie, did anyone oblige? I work in pencil, so if not I can erase my grid and scan it
