Enjoyed this. Nicely put together. Frustratingly I am a letter short of completion. 29a has 2 possible answers from the definition and I can't see the wordplay.

I'm going for L as the unchecked. If someone could confirm or correct and give a hint as to the wordplay, that would be helpful

Smellyharry, I assume you have identified the correct extra letter. Look carefully at the first few letters of your two possible answers, and then the last few of one of them, and the light might dawn on you.

Got it, thanks. Very good. And I guessed right. Now back to trying to find the fourth novel from 2 weeks ago.

Don't understand your "...wrongly implies singularity ..." - both thw wording of the preamble and of the hidden message contain all the appropriate plurals - or have Imissed something?

Seems to me that this diminishes the puzzle - to have got them all in would be real genius - without them it's rather incomplete.
Or have I missed a further reveal?

Arguably there’s only one missing and it would have been difficult to fit that one in for obvious reasons and it would have impacted the symmetry.

Thought Eclogue did a great job.
