THE CLUES
Requests for help should normally include the clue itself, the number of letters in the answer, and details of any you already have. Any special instructions or additional information should also be given.
HINTS only, please, no answers.

THE THEME

Requests may be made here for help towards the theme. 'Gentle nudges' is hard to define. The aim is to give enough to help without revealing anything that could spoil the puzzle for other solvers. The theme itself should not be revealed under any circumstances.
Early solvers should avoid any allusion, jocular or otherwise, to the theme.

The Listener is a unique puzzle and should be treated with respect.

Thanks Avian.

Nice puzzle with a slightly different idea - liked it…..and the connection between the Origin and the message is a great spot.

Struggled with the clues, struggled to get anything in the grid, struggled to find the final displaced character.
Too much of a struggle all round for me, I'm afraid.

The best for a while IMO. A nice challenge and all cleverly thematically linked together. Thanks Avian (new setter or collab, I wonder? Excellent debut if the former)

Shouldn't 26acr indicate two words for the 7-letter one? I don't have OED but Google search finds 2-words. And what does Skye have to do with it?

What a wonderful puzzle. Very tricky, kept at it, and when one of the (dear to me) names popped out of the grid I actually grinned from ear to ear.

Just a couple of parse questions I’ll come back with later in the week if they don’t turn up in the meantime.

Thank you so much, Avian!

Re: Skye - presumably to indicate both Scots and marine; a little like Victoria’s for Australian etc.

The shops in our area don't have The Times supplements today. Any chance of a link, like the good ol' lockdown days?
