in 14 Across letters 4-6 refer to the 'a' in the clue, a bit tenuous though

Can someone help me parse 11, please.

11: defn. "all hands below deck on this one", where "hands" is an unusual usage that pops up in tricky crossword clues.

Parses as a reversal of [2, 1, 3, 2, 2].

Good clue but tough.

11 The wordplay is all in reverse (‘returning’), so working back to front it parses 2,1,3,2,2

11a definition at beginning (hands not referring to sailors); parsing read it backwards.

Definitely a tougher one this week and not especially enjoyable. I can't see the wordplay for 16 or 27. In 16, the 4 letter word, alluded to above, isn't in Chambers.

27 is either end. This construction has turned up quite often recently.

My answer for 16 is more fun!
