28a Edible clam sounding good? (3). 1st letter p last letter e.
Sure it must be pee but can’t parse. Apparently there’s a pea clam and sounding could be homophone indicator. Why good?
Grateful for any help.
'Good' in crossword clues often leads to Pi, a version of Pious... so Pie would 'sound good'. It ddoesn't work for the 'clam', unless there's a pie clam!

10a heavy drinker quaffing Irish malt, primarily, fugly Midlands bint (9)
? i ? m ? n ? e ? All I can think of is 'birminger' but it does not seem quite right.
That looks reasonable to me, bonytony. Binger around IR (Irish) + M (first letter of malt). Not a word I know, but makes sense as unattractive lady from Birmingham, bir-minger
I’m a bit stuck on a couple , any help gratefully received 👍
