The second meaning of 3d is used for a fat round belly .
First meaning of 1a they provide "leads" (clues to a crime)

Corporation is shown in a very old dictionary as "rotundity of figure; a pot belly" .

Yes I knew that but the point I was making was that it is used only in crosswordland -nobody in the real world uses the word .

Another very enjoyable offering, and I was grateful for another week without a spoonerism!

Lots of really excellent clues but my favourites were 20a (great misdirection) and 7d. 25a made me smile. Couldn't see anything cryptic about 5d though; seemed very obvious.

Can't fully parse 11a. I've got the nameless prince, but that leaves 7 letters which I can't connect to anything else in the clue.

Someone earlier said they couldn't parse the Japanese city (19d). In case they still haven't, it's a 4 letter word for imbecile, plus the middle ('in the middle') two letters of a 4-letter word in the clue, plus the 'O.

On the first pass, I put 'rush' in 6a (a perfectly good answer I thought) which held me up a bit on 7 and 8.

23a is the only clue which has defeated me! Any pointers, please?

23a - Usual single letter for Everyman, plus every other letter (regularly falling out) of deejay. First word is definition.

@juklesverne: The remainder of 11a is an anagram (abandoned) of dip, robe.

In 19d it is a three letter word for imbecile plus "p" for parking.
