At last I've got one.

I enjoyed that and found it much easier than last week. I was fairly familiar with the theme which helped.

I've made some progress, but still have six left (9ac - I have an answer but can't parse it -13ac and 13d, 3d, 23d, 27d and 29ac - despite having a good hint on this thread for the latter clue). I am also not sure of the answer to 23 d. I have D?R?A?, but can't make sense of it. It includes an assumed answer to 23d, which I'm not sure about.

Any hints for any of the above will be most welcome.

I'm in a right muddle. I thought Dorian was probably wrong for 23d, but I just can't guess the novel. I have D?R??? I need it to check I have 19ac right.

I know man is a verb and I think I have it, but I can't get the rest - perhaps I've got 19d wrong. I have A?S?T?ON. I've tried an A instead of the O, but got nowhere.

I'm now on the point of giving up. I blame going away last weekend and missing doing the crossword. I only do Saturdays.

Is there anyway I can stop these really annoying ads on this site?

There are free adblockers out there. I use AdBlock Plus.

I use Adblock Plus, but some ads began creeping into my display this morning. Not all the time, I still get the blank spaces as well.

roof, your crossers on 23d are correct. The name also is the second half of the title of the book in which the character appears.

19D - you probably made the same mistake as I did at first - spelling mistake?... A is correct instead of O.

I may be a bit late with this but..
13A - think 'bad' for 'wrong'
13D - 'we hear' is the indicator
3D - Where something might be hidden, but if it's not then it's nothing...
23D - indicator is 'passionate' with letters exchanged
27D - A nice bit of mis-direction - I thought this was quite clever
29A - for 'case', think legal.
