Now I am convinced that my grid fill is correct, but I have 21 clashes. Reading by rows, they are 4, 5, 1, 3, 2, 2, 0, 1, 1, 0, 1, 1, 0

I appear to have an extra E and D. In fact there cannot be a D since it does not appear in the phrase, but my solution for 43 across has this letter in it.

Hi foinavon,
3 in the first (top) row, none in the 9th. There is a "d" in the phrase "and".

Thanks. I have reversed the placement of a pair of entries which I think fixes it. Missing the d was a bit umb of me.

All done except for 18 down. I am certain it cannot contain any clashes and Chambers only gives one word which will fit, for which the first three words of the relevant part of the clue could be a definition. However, I simply cannot parse it. I am guessing it must be fairly straightforward as no-one else here has queried it. Perhaps the flu I am suffering from has fuddled my brain!

Full grid all the correct clashes and theme identified. In making real words of the final entries I run into a problem with 4 down.if the words spanning column seven are to be left untouched then how can 4 down end up as a real word? What am I not seeing? Can we change these spanners or bridging words when we need to?

It’s not that odd, 0pt0. Last word of the clue gives the first letter, side is the usual two-letter one, and the rest is a verb meaning concerned

There is an unusual word for concerned in 18 down

Mullingar, that stipulation only applies to resolving the initial clashes, not to creating the final words

In #56 side should read aide, of course. ******* autocorrect. Apologies

I found this one of the most enjoyable Listeners for some time. Nice for the preamble to be completely clear as compared to some of the ambiguous ones we get and I particularly enjoyed the final instruction. It might have helped having my wife sat next to me coincidentally making plans related to the theme!
