All done here at a reasonable pace until the final three "unclued". I have what has to be right for 1d, but for the life of me I can't see why it is what it has to be. Any guidance?

PP try putting “borders of Cleveland” into the BRB.

Thanks - but BRB? What's that?

Like puzzledpom I can't parse 1D. And an online search of Chambers for borders of Cleveland just gives the dictionary entry for Borders. I'm still just as puzzled.

Sleyking, think of borders as an indicator in the usual sense

I think you were to investigate the 'borders' of Cleveland in the crossword sense - ie the first and last letters. ..

No problems with parsing 1d using chemical symbol but with all other clues solved I still haven't got the 3 unclued ones!

Oh I see! Thank you.

I knew about borders in the crossword sense, I knew what the result stood for - the answer was hiding in plain sight where I wasn't looking. For me, a good clue.
