Well I can only think of 1 3 letter word for hint. And I can't see where it is if the answer is a FORTRAN keyword.

I can only see 1 FORTRAN keyword which fits. It's the same as a C keyword, which in C jumps back to the loop test.

Yes, that is 24. Forgot it was also a C keyword, I programmed less in that language.

What a numpty I am re the spoonerism, it’s a cracker!

All done now. “Pursue” held me up for far too long even when it was staring me in the face.

I've got the Spoonerism now as well.

Still can't parse 24A, can't see the hint part.

Looks like 20D starts with an M then?

24: defn. "pursue", parses as 3 "hint" surrounding (2 "about" + 3 "money").

Ps, yes for 20d. For 24, the hint part is letters 1, 7 and 8

The "hint" is from e.g. theatre, lacks one letter from the e.g. cruciverbial usage.

Ah cheers. That shouldn't have "snookered" me for so long ;) Also used in computer programming to mean "start buffering a stream into memory so it plays as soon as you tell it to sometime in the future" (for streaming audio/video).

Can't parse 20D then either!

First three letters are an extinct bird.
