No more nudges on the theme, but there was some excellent advice in an earlier thread which suggested that a good strategy in grid staring is to look for large combinations of unchecked cells in horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines.

deviant - there is a times offer at the moment which is 3 months for a pound, then 3 month contract at 26 per month.

Ive done this - works out as 13 pounds per month for a six month trial - and as well as the crosswords (inc mephisto from sunday etc), i am finding it excellent (and no i dont work for the times)!

Thanks to all, but I had 2 mistakes in the relevant area. All clear now. That will teach me not to biff in future.

@andyp - yes agree. The iq 's theme is pretty much the same as a very recent Magpie too!

No you're not, Crates. It must be a (cryptic?) reference to one of the pioneer's achievements, but I can't find anything in the relevant Wiki articles that fits.
