I worked slowly from the bottom up - 27a FOI!
I have it all parsed except for the start of the second word in 8,2 - I can see the "farm", I think, but how does "fled" give the rest?

Morning all. Thanks to Brendan for the explanation of 10, I wouldn’t have got that meaning. A few of football references here, including Paul’s home team.

Thanks jono. It came to me as I was fetching the paper - I was putting the last letter of the first word with the wrong part of wordplay.

Finished this in good time but had to go back over several to be sure of the parsing - often made harder by the split answers. I also particularly liked the 18 Pauline which took me much longer to get than it should have given my FOI was 22!
