13 was the one I had most difficulty with as I was convinced it had to begin or end with L. Even when I'd worked out Armagnac from the other letters, and knew the drink had to begin with C, I was slow to cotton on. I became convinced that COKEL was a dialect word for a mess that had somehow eluded all lexicographers and the internet.
Jono, have you tried your hand at setting a full crossword? I think you'd make a good fist of it, especially as you have an impressive track record of understanding parsings on this forum.
