I'm stuck in the top left corner, 1a and 2d.
1a) Is this a famous Turkish person? Can't make one from the obvious anagram in the clue.
2d) Is this a type of primate? Or does the solution contain a 3-letter word for primate?

Hi everyone

I gave up yesterday after my friends left, but today I spoke with my friend in Sheffield, who kindly gave me some answers, which helped me finish. Neither of us could get 21ac and 22d until I asked my husband for a website with the crossers. He knew it straight away. I guess I don't think of it as a website. I certainly can't parse it. Unlike my friend, I spotted the theme which helped solve the clues, but what is the "device"?

I'm hoping for something a bit easier next week.

Off to take the lights and decorations off the Christmas tree so I can get it back outside before the indoor heat gets to it.
