hi Jogamel,

7a - 5 letter first name of a PM then after letter deduction you have a Jewish religious ceremony

12a - Wordplay is single letter "positive" then 4 letter "trade" reversed/turnover - definition when extra letter(s) is added is "as intended"

I misled you. Sorry. I meant 7d. I have BUNOSE but don’t know a word for with a rounded edge. Also for 12a I have PSA?D and don’t recognise the definition.
Also, 25a: excellent drink with editor every now and then. I have SUPERB but don’t know why….
Help my muddled brain…..

Jogamel, 7d, there's an old Morris car referred to as what you have ++

Drxx, thanks for the symmetry hint. No joy but I decided to have a fresh look tomorrow...I've gone word-blind!

7d - yes, that's right if you add a double L you'll get "with a rounded edge"

25a - Close - First 3 letters are correct but the last 3 are "editor every now and then" to which you add a double R.

The names were new to me, granama1 but I took a hunch on a synonym for motto/story and symmetry did the rest.

jogamel - the first 4 letters are correct for 25a.

I dont really see a link between the thematics created by the clues and the thematics in the grid. (And yes, I have the four letter abbreviation that comes from the clue thematics.) Is it me?

Nelson, the ones given by the extra letters are all 3/4, i.e one short. Hence they are incomplete. Those in the grid are 4/4, and complete

Thanks quisling - though I'm not sure I quite understand 3/4 and 4/4.
I see one set are incomplete (missing a letter) and the other set is complete. I will have to have a think!

Nelson, if you google the four missing letters together in clue order (in ABCD form) you should find what you're looking for.
