Have come to a grinding halt on this. Have 24 of the "missing" 25 letters and 2 answers left to solve....7across Religious ceremony ( b..s) a d 8 down Colourful small mammal ( .edsh.e).
If I'm right so far, only one should have a missing letter.
Could someone help please.

Both have missing letters. 7 is a Jewish religious ceremony, not in my versions of Chambers but verifiable online. For the PM think first names.

8 down is nasty. Three letter colour and a five letter small mammal minus its last letter.

Bear in mind the message doesn't make much sense until you twig the theme.

Now have the 2 answers and 2 of the incomplete set, which have something in common.
Is the common element to be used in the grid search please?

Thanks to those who replied. I hadn't realised the replies were there as the page hadn't refreshed. Still grid staring for the "complete" set.

When you have all members of the incomplete set, you'll notice there is something missing (different in each case) from each member. If you're familiar with the subject, that should help with the search. If not, put the missing elements together (in clue order and Google it.

Well, this is frustrating! I'm onto the end game, pretty sure I know the sort of thing I'm looking for, have one candidate that appears to be 'thematically complete'. Can I find others? Nope, not a sausage!
