And I agree exactly with everything you've just said - including thanks to Ifor.

That's a brilliant spot with the title, Quisling! I'd assumed it was a vague reference to the missing initials but this being Ifor, I should have realised there'd be more too it. I agree with the general high opinion of his puzzles. His name above a puzzle guarantees a challenging solve whose resolution repays the effort put in many times over.

I'm way behind you guys but can I just check if the letter/extra word combinations are all in Chambers?

I'd just like to add my thanks and praise to Ifor for a fantastic puzzle. So many great little touches, topped off by the synonyms for the title leading to the theme as spotted by Quisling.

I was smugly congratulating myself on a relatively quick and enjoyable solve of an Ifor puzzle until I came to the last bit.

I guessed at the theme thanks to the recent Ella Minnow Pea bit of fun. I then ground to a halt. So when I came here for enlightenment I was delighted that quisling (post #2) quickly put me out of my misery. Not ashamed to admitting to having help for the hard part, since I almost always enjoy the solving of the clues more than the end-game.

I don't submit.

I came late to this party (which wasn’t a party and all rules were followed at all times and if they weren’t it wasn’t by me because even if I was present I wasn’t there, b’wah!). But it was not just a lot of fun, it was another great feat of construction. Not just an impressive achievement but done consummately. Thanks, Ifor!

Quite enjoyable, until the endgame, which I hated - it was obvious to me that it was a 26-letter pangram. Having searched for one of those online, it then became painful and pointless. The pangram itself was unguessable, and horribly contrived (not by Ifor, I acknowledge), so I didn't see its value. I just couldn't be bothered with finding the synonyms.
