I have a full grid, and I think I have all but one of the extra words. Most seem to be "associated with a single letter" and I think I can see the set but there is nothing among the letters remotely resembling a sentence. I can see about 11 words which may need highlighting but can't make any sense of them.
Either I've missed something obvious or I've gone horribly wrong. Can anyone give me a gentle nudge so that I can get on with my life please?

We did, sloth, Ella Minnow Pea being the book in question!

I'm in the same position as sloth at#1, but don't want to click on quisling's link yet as I'd like to get a little further.
But, is the six word sentence in English?

Yes, Nelson, but there are some unusual words and the sentence doesn't make much rational sense!

I think it's a bit misleading to call it a sentence. The six words don't fit together in a logical and syntactically sensible way.
I was interested to see that a fairly unusual six-letter clue answer also featured in the Listener on the same day.

Er, I have 'celtic' as one of the extra words but am completely baffled as to an associated letter. Little nudge please?
