Couple of queries - hopefully oblique enough to be non-spoilers - is the shape referred to by the instruction non-quadrilateral? I have a sensible derived instruction, with an irregular edge.

The barred-off cell is obviously providing some issues on the other thread - is is to show a possessive, as in the answer to the question, [or even referring to a sign associated with the '3' on my keyboard?]

I did the sequence of the 7, but the barred cell is nowhere near the of action. Hints please

I'll try a more direct line. One of the 7 really should have an X in it should the casualty of that X be put in the barred cell? Please

I'm very slowly hearing the pennies dropping. I now have the question and I know the the sequence - and that should have been obvious to me as I only completed "A marvellous game" by Columba this week - it is in the Times Listener Crossword book. My stumbling block is now two-fold, I still don't see 38a and my 1st four misprints IN ALPHABETICAL order are BEEO - how many, if any, of those are correct - please don't identify them just post a number between 0 and 4.
