This thread is aimed solely at answers to clues and is not meant for discussions, those take place in the other two threads. When requesting an answer, please give the clue number, the clue itself and number of letters.

Do not ask for answers to the theme, only gentle hints for that are to be given in the Gentle Hints thread.

BUT before you ask for answers, please read the following post by Murky which summarises what the Listener is all about.

“The Listener isn’t meant to be a doddle. The average Listener will take three hours or more, a difficult one far more than that. To ask for help before at least three hours has been spent on a puzzle is unreasonable in my opinion”

Thanks Norah. BTW I think a story featured in the puzzle is dedicated to you. Even I found the clues easy, but I have no idea about the advice. Put out the fire? Hide the jobbies? Can anyone tell me where to look? Please

Oh, I thought 'answers' meant answers to the clues. I don't think I'd ever like seeing the theme being given away!

Sorry, SimpleSimon, I wasn't getting at you, it was more a case of missing the 'VERY GENTLE hints to the theme' which Norah previously had in the wording. In a way, that isn't needed here as the opening refers to clues...
