All discussions on the puzzle should be posted here. Gentle hints to clues and VERY gentle hints to the theme may also feature. Anything stronger should go on the Answers thread.
Postings here should be in response to requests, unsolicited hints, nudges etc will be removed.

I cannot access this qrossword, despite being a subscriber to the Times. Whenever I try to go to the page, I am told that am forbidden to do so. Presumably this is a glitch that they are going to sort out.

I have had that problem many times with the Listener. I can never get it through the app. In fact, I can only get it on my desktop computer. I don't know that it's a glitch as much as a very robust paywall.

I always use my laptop since it is easy to print from it. It is very rare that there is a problem. However, I have told them about it and I hope to get some sense soon. A pity, since it is is nice to begin before going to the pub for my Friday session.

Incidentally, judging by your appellation, we share an enthusiasm. It is not rock music, nor it is Scottish mountaineering (to which mine is a reference).

Foinaven, I recall rambling in the Cape Wrath hinterland some years ago. My American companion, having studied the map, asked “Why are so many of these mountains named after racehorses?”

Thanks, Tatters. My access is still blocked and there has been no response from The Times.

Yes, Jack Aubrey, I can remember that time - Arkle and Ben Nevis were, I believe, famous racehorses but Foinaven was lucky to win the National. I am not aware of any other mountain horses. Arkle and Foinaven are both Corbetts, of course, though the latter only just misses the cut.
