All discussions should take place on this thread. Gentle hints to clues may be given. VERY GENTLE hints to the theme may feature too - but only if asked for! Anything stronger - where the clues and the theme are concerned - should feature in the other thread, the ANSWERS one.

Thanks. And thanks also to Mr. T and for all the previous times that I've forgotten to thank you.

Looks like all those who were complaining about last week's being too easy will get their wish.

Looked for an hour.
Didn't need to fetch a pencil.
Anyone who can see a way in, please use other thread to help.

This is certainly tough - not least the clues - but I’m enjoying it so far. Nowhere near finished but food, wine and music calls so I’ll resume tomorrow. I’m not sure of the endgame yet but something is peeping out and I don’t think it’s a spoiler to say it is not another girl band 😉

Marvellous puzzle. On a par with Shark’s wonderful Magpie last month. Just what a Listener should be. Thanks, Shark!

I agree, Quisling. Certainly a contender for Puzzle of the Year. The initial frustrations of getting started with the grid fill are repaid many times over by one of the best endgames I have seen for a long time. Many thanks, Shark.

We’re in the very strange and unenviable position of having reached the end game last night after solving only 10 clues. So now have the problem of reverse engineering to fill the grid; a pity as it’s a lovely day and the garden beckons.Lovely puzzle Shark.
