Like Jono I also liked the straight forwardness of this Everyman. No clues I couldn't parse, and no foreign phrases

I must admit I almost finished it by 1am UK time, and had to make myself stop to get some sleep. 1, 7 and 8 I thought nice.

Only question, are the last 4 letters of 9 a real word, or just how posh people say it?

I had to check, but yes that word in 9 is in Chambers described as a ‘facetious rendering…”

1D - someone mentioned they enjoyed the clue because they were a guitarist, which might help.

Apparently if you want to know how posh someone is in England ask them to pronounce the word garage. Upper, middle and lower classes all pronounce it differently!
