25a: can anyone enlighten me about a 'gudong'? I can't trace it.

It's the anagrist (anagrind="trained"). Needn't make sense IMO, didn't bother to look it up.

Hi Biggus56, I can only find Gudong as a place in China, or 'gu dong' as a Chinese phrase. Either way, not a great surface meaning.

On second thought, maybe it's a Grauniad rendition of "dugong".

Enjoyed this cakewalk until I got stuck on 8d and 13a. I have words that fit, but definitely don't parse. Hints please.

8: defn. is "light stuff" (beverage), wordplay inside single quotes.
13: defn is "trail", "moon" is used in Pauline (US ?) sense.

8dn - take the letters and insert a conjunction for a light drink.
13ac - what do they call autumn in Oregon? And what do you show if you moon?

8d - Say the letters in order with a 3 letter conjunction between the second and third - definition is a "light" (drink)

13a - First word is "autumn in Oregon" and second word is "what moon reveals" (very cheeky!) - definition is "trail"
