We’ve a conversation about the tick before on a previous weekend thread. It has to be the Guardian App from the App Store and the latest version. But my and others’ experience is that is it does mean the grid as entered matches the Guardian’s own solution. For instance, if I toggle any given letter from correct to incorrect then the tick comes and goes accordingly.

5 is a pair clue, 26 isn't - it's much easier than it looks if you know the word!

Is 6a composed of two parts, 1+3, each a bachelor. Giving a 4-letter word meaning 'hurt inside'?

Mikey- 6d is a hidden. I’m really stuck on 26a, I’m wondering if I’ve got some letters wrong - any hints on how the clue is made up? I don’t know what I’m looking for and exhausted the normal routes!

Fresh is anagrind. First two words are definition.

26a is a 4-letter anagram + river, means a type of marine species.

26 is an anagram including the usual annreviation for river. a fairly unfamiliar word for a sea snail.
