Mmmm, yes, the Inquisitor threads have been starting later and later in recent weeks - are fewer people doing the Inquisitor? Or simply doing it later, after doing the Listener? Whichever, I have tended to assume by its lateness that most people have already completed the puzzle and want to confirm parsing etc.
In this case I think you would have to have an idea of the theme already to get what was being discussed here, certainly not from 'cold'.

Interesting question. Muraria. Perhaps the relative lateness of IQ threads is because Listener threads are always started as soon as the puzzle comes online, while it's up to individual solvers to ask for help with the IQ?

I solved this fairly quickly and I really enjoyed the apropos epitaph (if we one can enjoy an epitaph that is).

The nugget of info that I learnt in the process was that the protagonist went to the same high-school as my brother (many years earlier) -- also, for those that care, the alma mater of The Simpsons Matt Groening!

With regard to the “lateness” of posts for the Inquisitor, I often wait until frustration sets in but don’t like to be the first to post every week as I think it makes me look dim!

I'm having a devil of a time trying to work out the name from all the possible letters that can replace the clashes. Can I check if it's 2 names 3, 5 and if so is B?? D???? or something else?

The name is 3,5 as you've surmised, but you initial letters are wrong, Brendan.

The first initial is much later alphabetically and the second slightly earlier.

Late to the party but it was a fun and satisfying solve. The theme reminded me of the early radio acting career of David Jacobs, eclipsed by his later roles on TV and radio. Things like “Journey into Space” turn up on R4X from time to time with DJ playing multiple parts in different voices - more than 20 characters, I believe.
