2d is a synonym for charge with a two letter word entered backward.

I generally have a strategy that if I get half way down the across clues and have nothing then I’ll start again at the last of the down clues and work backwards; and it did seem to pay off today.
Very enjoyable well crafted puzzle I thought. 4, 19 and 20 were definitely 15s, as were many others. I rather enjoyed the product placement.

I obviously meant 9 across in my earlier post...

Well. Having got all the downs, my answer must be correct but I'm not really sure of the definition there. Unless anyone out there knows different.

9a: look up Chambers. It is slang for insignificant or unimportant.

Mathi: it's not 'slang': it's what it means.
