First poster here, just wanting to add my grateful thanks to everyone on this Forum for helping me with this - and previous - puzzles. My heart joined many others in sinking when I saw Maskerade's offering, but this thread gave me hope and I am working through it.
Thanks to all !

I have really enjoyed this bank holiday crossword. It has occupied me off and on for nearly 3 days. I am stuck on 2 words. The 6 letter E word which I think the clue for is: Man of note somewhere offshore, embraced by HM. I have E I - L - R Is that right?
And the 8 letter A word that is the first clue A- / I - I - I O
I think i might have made a mistake somewhere.
Any help gratefully received.

Hi Noeyedeer

Think others have replied to your questions. Can you (or anyone else) help me with the perimeter words? I know what I think they should be but when I put them in some of the first letters they give don't seem to work. Anyone had a similar problem and worked out what was wrong?

You've not made a mistake Sallymac.

Man of note is definition (I found him on wikipedia). You've got HM embracing (ER), you need somewhere offshore in the middle (I-L-).

First clue - Latin term. A10 is road to Kings Lynn.

With the help of this forum I have ground out all but two solutions.
Any hints for these two most welcome

Caravan which may be a danger to bathers

Four in a lav? Not all in this one!

I have a possible solution for four in a lav but not a convincing parse.

This puzzle has certainly extended my knowledge of German culture and language.

The A10 is an old Roman Road. 90 miles in a straight (ish) line. I live at the other end but I’ve never been to King’s Lynn
