Difficult I thought. For 16D I have a word for goodbye (and a single hoop of cereal I guess), but can't work out where the definition of the word is, just the component parts.

I'm also missing 20D but I'm going to have a look at golf terms on wikipedia I think once I've nipped to the shop.

I saw RENE as a Frenchman (and then written backwards) the other week, and also the learning aid turned up the other week (plural though I think) in the Everyman.

Hi Paradigm 16d is a four letter word for “porridge” followed by a two letter abbreviation ….answer is a golf term….

Yeah I worked 20D out before even setting off for the shop :)

Still no idea how to parse 16D though.

I’m not fully sure but I make it one round = the two letters at the end with a 5 letter word meaning “to egg on “ on top (topping) ? That’s my best guess, what do you think ? Cheers, Tony

I don't get where the definition is though. I can build the word from the parts of the clue but I can't see how it means "toast". I have a word for goodbye.

Although maybe it means in the sense of "you're toast" I suppose?

It's a toast, like skol or prost.

I only have a meaning for goodbye though (or a singular hoop of a breakfast cereal) - is that correct?
