Gitto - I agree with Lord Badger. Clues A, N and P couldn't be solved initially as they all have 2 possible answers. So, you need to find the other answer to P (which doesn't end with 'that digit').

Thanks both, I now have that digit in "N" and "P" now ends the same as "L".

I usually struggle with the numbers ones, but I found this a relatively straightforward and satisfying puzzle. I was a bit worried about the final grid fill as my first few guesses failed quickly, but then it all just fell into place. Thanks Hedgehog

My first post, although I have read posts for Listener numericals previously. I’m struggling to get started here. As stated elsewhere there are only 4 x 4 digit Fibonacci numbers. Not all of these will fit in the grid as per the preamble. Of those that do I can find no 2 or 3 digit factors for H and T which would fit. Any hints as to what I might be missing please?

cathyhuns, I wonder if you’re looking for prime factors rather than just factors? I think you can rule out 2 of the 4 possibilities immediately due to the OEOE / EOEO requirement and then one of the other 2 possibilities because it doesn’t have a 3 digit OEO / EOE factor ..

I only really do the numerical listener crosswords so I'm not sure if this is a standard thing to know, but I don't understand what the preamble means by "Clues are given in the normal order". Can someone explain or give me a hint what that means? I've managed to work out a lot of the answers but can't work out how to put them in the grid.

lividChicken,

The clues are in the order you'd see with a standard crossword, with the across clues in the left column and the down clues in the right column.
So A, B etc are the across clues in order, with A the top-most.
Similarly Q, R etc are the down clues in order.

Thank you for replying. I think it was finger trouble when looking for the factors. I’ve found it now and solved the puzzle.

Thanks @cs75, I managed to work it out myself in the end. That makes sense but I must have been overthinking it. I'm surprised they didn't just put "Across" and "Down" at the top of the columns.

Nice numerical. Went wrong once, which is low for me. As others have said the chequerboard effect helps a lot and I always enjoy a carte-blanche. Very enjoyable.
