For all those who are a little fearful of numericals, I would suggest this would be a good puzzle to choose as an entry point.
There are a number of clues which yield a very small number of possible answers - but when combined with the grid restrictions (and the effect those restrictions have on the clues' symmetrical counterparts) these can be reduced further. The rest can be completed using a very clear logical path. Oh, and worry about the grid-fill later!
