Must have been mostly on the setters wavelength today, apart from 17d and 25a which are still unsolved. Lots of very witty clues as others have said!

Last half dozen took v much longer than the rest of the puzzle. The hint for 17d helped complete SE corner. The trivial hint for 16d has gone a long way to completing SW. Last 2 are the unclued lights for 18a. Cannot see the light, so to speak. One more hint would help.

Hi Fop,
‘A little’ is one of those pesky first letter indicators (like ‘a bit of’ etc). Couple of contenders for who the answer might refer to

I'm stuck on 22D and 25A.
I have ?O?A?I?? for 25A so presumably RO?A?I??
I just have ?N???S for 22D

Hi Ps, all your letters are correct. 25a is a Shakespearean reference (his first love?)
22d think chess notation for knight and a reversal for the remainder.

Chess notation for Knight is N though is it not?
Never mind, I got it ;) Cheers.

Tx Jono. I'm confident of the solution but still can't see the parsing. Probably still too early in day for a more explicit hint. Hopefully penny will drop eventually.

Everyman's - the apostrophe s does not mean "belongs to" in 18A

I agree, the puzzle seemed hard today. I like to think that I can ‘usually’ complete Everyman without help but today I had to resort to a crossword thesaurus for 25, the wordplay seemed clear but I’d never heard of the answer and horror of horrors, a wordsearch programme for 10, 22 and 17. In the first two cases I had the right idea but couldn’t grind out the answer but 17 had me barking up the wrong tree, thinking ‘coder’ for ‘programmer’ . Glad that other people found it tough too, but I think it was quite fair and not too out on a limb for an Everyman
