I'm afraid I concur with paulnz about 8d - I searched and found the fish appearing without the 's', so could not see what the 'no end of' was doing at all. I also couldn't see why 'rid' was 'deliver' in 24a (I always thought "deliver us from evil" was a transitive verb on us not on the evil).
But there were some super anagrams - particularly liked 26a.

It's because...

"The plural of fish is usually fish. When referring to more than one species of fish, especially in a scientific context, you can use fishes as the plural. The zodiac sign Pisces is also often referred to as fishes."

Am I being particularly dull? How is the last letter of 7d indicated in the clue?

There's 3 ways to write "the" in French. Confused me for a bit too deciding whether it was an S or a D at then end.

Nice puzzle this week. I agree with the others on the clue for 5 - I was surprised there was an answer word in the clue.

I'm stuck on 1a - I just don't know how to parse it. Other tricky ones for me were 8, 9, and 25 although I eventually got them (with some helpful hints here :-) ).

Hi lexo
1a is just an anagram. The solution to 12 is an example of one.

Thanks paradigmshifter - As I suspected, I was being a bit dull not to think of “the French” in the plural form …
