Afternoon all,
Another puzzle was not too many contentious bits although I am unsure of my parsing for 24a.
I also did not like 5D as it seemed to me that one word in the word play turned up in the answer so I found that a little confusing.
Sometimes I wonder if Everyman starts the crossword construction by using the rhyming, or connected, clues as they are often totally disconnected expressions, although today you might consider that the first part of one could change depending on a view of someone in the other.
Still, A gentle way to spend a bit of time on a cold wet afternoon.

Hi Mystogre,

I see what you mean about 5d - I always find it a bit disappointing when that happens:-(

Mystogre, that reminds me that it seems unusual for a puzzle to have just one pair of linked clues (1a and 12 here), but I won't criticize the setter for this. Multiple linked clues often suggest a theme, which I don't see in this Everyman.

Don't know why the editor did not change "into" to "inside" for 5D

Feeling smug as this was the first Everyman I've completed without any external aids (dictionary, Google, croosword solver.org, etc). Time 40mins. Must be the cup of tea which did it! :-)

Congrats Lucertola. I also rattled through this but not as quickly as 40mins, that’s impressive. I wouldn’t say this was easy but the recent clueing style is certainly more accurate than it has been. I did finish the Codeword in under 4 mins though ;-) not quite a PB.

Morning all. Also sailed through with only a few aids. FOI 6a LOI 8d COD 22d for me short and sweet. Enjoyed the comments.

I can't see where the last 4 letters of 17a come from. I can't equate mine with "obtained".

Hi Chris, 17a breaks down as 2 letters inserted into a 5 letter word
