Gentle romp today. I thought 10a was slightly ambiguous as to which word was required - both work - especially as there were no crossers to confirm. I opted for the former.

Parsing of 24ac - Everyman given time gets the first bit. Then a synonym for “silly” without a synonym for “deliver” if that makes sense.

Morning all. I’m nearly finished but I am stuck on 8d. The clue about “fish” hasn’t helped me at all. All help greatly appreciated.

I echo the sentiments of a good puzzle, though 5d was a low point.

simond9x, I agree with using the former, as the definition tends to be the very first or last part of the clue.

Mob, 8d is a cut of beef - perhaps one of those diagrams of the cow with all the cuts might help! I didn't know the fish, but apparently adding an s to the answer gets you the fish.

Mob, the anwer is also a fish (with or without an s appended) so not a great clue. My COD was 19a, though I prefer atheism!. Can someone please clarify parsing of 13. I thought a wiseacre was a know-all rather than a character.

Yes, thanks for your confirmation. Agree re 5d. Was my LOI for the very reason that one word is in the clue. Shame to end an otherwise skip-through crossword with resigned groan, especially when rewording wouldn’t have been impossible.

My younger son was home today so we did it together. As always I was impressed by how much quicker he was than the old man! FOI 6a, COD 12a,LOI 8d. All in all, an enjoyable puzzle.
