PS While you're here - what is the definition for 19a - the only word spare in the wordplay is "making" but I can't equate that my answer F....D

The def is the shared fast - "making" appears to be a link word to the second part of the wordplay which I think you've already got?

You're welcome! It was a good puzzle - seemed like a slog in the early stages but great fun when (eventually) the penny dropped.

Absolutely - I had to do it in three sittings as I just kept hitting dead-ends but, as you say, great fun once the penny dropped:-)
