I wouldn't be too disheartened, I think many of us struggled to get going with this one:-)

3d - Single letter "singular" inside/"puncturing" a 5 letter word meaning "drivel" minus it's last letter/"endless"

I wasn't sure of 3d either, but I think the "drivel" might be the sort you find on the top of a pint of beer, perhaps.
