One def of BELAY is 'desist' - meaning stop.

Brilliant, I was going round in circles - I had everything finished but that last fly in the ointment and it was driving me up the wall 🥵

The def is 'bad tempered woman.
'Unusually' means it's rare.
(You'll be familiar with the word when you get it, but not in this context. It's most often used to describe a type of sailing craft.)
You need the regular letters from 'Chap that' followed by a short word for 'mother', then 3 more letters. The L that's fallen from the first clue goes into 'fed'.

Cheers, never heard that usage.
And was sure the 'mother' came at the end.

I must try and use it next time I fall out with a bad tempered woman. Be very interesting to see the reaction.
