Thanks for 10a, I just have 6d to solve now? Is the same 'chamber' reversed as in 10 again?
I have a few extra letters to sort too of course. Like 11d, and 18a to start with!

6d - Yes, same 4 letter "chamber" as in 10a + Frist letter of a 2 letter "precious jade" - definition is "sterile"

I'm feeling a bit dim. Everything sorted in the grid apart from sussing the extra letters at 28 across, and I have no wordplay issues. I cannot, however, fathom the answer to the cryptic clue. I can't make any connection between the new clues.

Hi kenhiggs, I no longer have the puzzle do can't help with 28a but the cryptic clue provided by extra letters = (n + clues)* (6) which is common to the removed groups when paired.

Thanks, ginge. The P has just Dd, at the same time giving me the extras at 28 to create REMUS. Doh!!
