I agree, but both versions depend on the getting the final letter of the answer from "bold" - how?

12a - I've seen "up", as in 'up in the air', used before as an anagram indicator.

14d - The whole clue is the definition.

25a - I've checked in Chambers and, although it has several words that the final letter stands for, "bold" isn't one of them.

B is for bold, in word processing editors.

25: Agreed with mathi and Brendan's first interpretation.
(2 letters for "commercial") + (first 3 letters of 4-letter word for "exceedingly") + (first letter of "bold").

12a: I'd never before seen "up" as an anagram indicator. One of the (IMO) tricks hiding in today's puzzle.

Those clues that are self-encapsulating confuse me. Not come across many of them.

Straightforward I thought. Backed into 26a from the wordplay having seen where nine might come from and I wouldn’t have got 19d without all the crossers and a google check. I didn’t blink over bold and surprised it’s not in Chambers or elsewhere, I looked in Collins and the ODE and not there either.
Everyman must have a penchant for 1a ‘s, isn’t that two weeks in a row? ;-)

Hello all, first read through in the small hours and not a dicky bird. Somehow FOI was 3d. Something leapt into my mind with the clocks going forward regarding spring and autumn. Plenty of enjoyable clues in my view, some straightforward and some head scratching. Did not mind the primarily as it was not too contrived I feel. I think my COD is 6d but there were many good ones. 15a is amusing. As is 22a. Now trying to regain an hours dozing. Cheers.
